Workshop on Developing City-Level Energy Concepts: Lessons-Learned from Germany and Pilot Applications in China was held in Beijing on July 25, 2017.

The meeting focused on issues of developing city-level energy policy plan and approaches in Germany, analysis on the energy policy in pilot cities of China, utilizing the clean energy to motivate China’s green urbanization, joint researches on clean energy in China, cooperation on CCICED Phase VI’s Green Urbanization and Green Energy researches.

Participants presented understanding and experiences on aforesaid issues by sharing their researches, commenting that there is a big demand on promoting the energy development mode in China cities. It is urgent to explore a comprehensive way to utilize the modes of distributed energy supply and long-distance power lines during China’s green urbanization. China and Germany have already launched various studies in a number of areas, for instance, Modern Power Grid Project, and Long Distance Power Lines. It is necessary to draw on Germany’s experiences to promote the development of China’s clean energy and the governance system.

Mr. Li Junfeng, Chairman of the Academic Committee in Energy Research Institute, NDRC, and Mr. Gerhard Stryi-Hipp, physicist, Group leader of Research Group Smart Cities in Fraunhofer Institute for Wind Energy and Energy System Technology and other experts attended the meeting.
